A planning application to expand a solar farm has led to concerns that the district will become overrun by green energy devices.

Tim Parker has applied to install an extra 148 solar panels to a 208-panel solar farm at Green Lane Farm, in Green Lane, Asheldham.

Asheldham and Dengie Parish Council objected to the original solar farm plans in November last year, worrying about it “setting a precedent for future development ruining the countryside”.

Bryan Ledger, parish council chairman, said that his fears had been realised by this latest planning application.

He said: “I think it’s wrong and it’s proved the precedent right.

“Will neighbours think they can go for it too?"
