Residents who get into council tax arrears are being warned not to get caught out by increased fees.
Enforcement agents are replacing bailiffs from April 6 and residents will have to pay a £75 fee as soon as the council passes an unpaid account to the agent to collect.
They will have to pay a further fee of at least £235 if they do not make arrangements to pay and a visit becomes necessary.
New council tax bills will be sent this month and taxpayers are reminded to report any changes in their circumstances immediately.
Failure to do so could result in a £70 fine, which can increase to £280 for any subsequent failure.
