About 100 furious residents crowded into a packed-out hall to fight housing allocations in Heybridge.

Heybridge attended a meeting at Plantation Hall, in Colchester Road, on Sunday to voice their opinions on the 1,235 homes suggested for north Heybridge in Maldon District Council’s Local Development Plan (LDP).

In December, councillors decided to redistribute the 335 houses from the south Maldon “garden suburb”, which will now have 1,375 homes, to north Heybridge.

Numbers for both areas will not be finalised until a planning inspector considers the draft LDP later this year.

Holloway Road residents Susan and Bob Ryall, of Holloway Road, chaired the public meeting in the hope to get as many people as possible to stand up against the plans.
