A village's redundant police station will be sold to raise tens of thousands of pounds.
The police building, based in Tollesbury Road, Tolleshunt D’Arcy, is among 18 stations which have been earmarked for sale since 2012 and it was announced this week that it will go on the market shortly.
Essex Police, which will have £78million less in Government grants by 2016 than it had in 2010, also want to sell stations in Brightlingsea, Mistley and Walton.
If all 18 stations are sold, it would represent about 20 per cent of the force’s estate.
Gerald Munson, a parish councillor for Tolleshunt D’Arcy for 15 years, said that the police post was manned daily since the building was especially built in about 2001.
