Maldon has the fifth highest obesity rate in Essex.
Figures published by Public Health England reveal 70 per cent of people had a BMI which placed them as overweight or obese.
BMI is calculated using height and weight measurements.
Maldon district was placed fifth out of 14 districts and was above the county average of 67.5 per cent.
