For the first time, Heybridge Swifts football club could actually be based in Heybridge.
The Scraley Road site has always been officially recognised by Royal Mail as being in Maldon, until a survey was sent out recently, suggesting that the address be “Heybridge, Maldon”.
Letters were sent to 462 properties which did not have the parish in the address, whereas more than 2,000 homes which did were not included in the consultation.
Administration assistant Dianne Bowyer, whose husband Nick is chairman of Heybridge Swifts, felt that the three-week consultation was a waste of time.
She said: “We thought it was a bit strange, we even thought it was a scam at first.
“I don’t see why they need to change it?"
