Heavy rain overnight has caused severe flooding in the Maldon district.
Tracey Maskell filmed Burnham Road, Mundon, as her partner Steve Dawson drove down the flooded street.
Traffic built up in Maldon Road and The Street in Latchingdon and flooded Ferry Road in Creeksea was impassable.
Mayland and Heybridge have also been affected.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "Drivers should slow down and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
"When driving through flood water choose a low gear and do not attempt it if the water is fast flowing or too deep.
"Driving too fast, even in relatively shallow water can cause water to be ingested into the engine.
"Drive slowly and steadily to avoid creating a large bow wave.
"Test your brakes as soon as you leave the water."
