Globe-trotting siblings will continue a world road trip, despite having to abandon their vintage Mini Mayfair.
Jack and Josie Condron, of Mayflower Drive, Maldon, started their journey on August 23 after saving for two years for a trip of a lifetime.
They reached Australia just before Christmas and were due to drive 5,000 miles from Darwin to Sydney via Perth.
But they were stranded in the Australian outback 400 miles from Perth when the head gasket blew for a second time on Wednesday.
They eventually managed to drive it to Perth but have to traverse the rest of the country by other means.
