An appeal has been lodged against a council’s decision to refuse plans to replace a former veterinary practice with two homes.

Maldon District Council turned down proposals to demolish former veterinary buildings in Chelmsford Road, Purleigh, and build two new three-bedroom houses in October.

It said it was outside the village’s development boundary, would be an unsuitable form of development and it would be detrimental to the rural character and appearance of the area.

But applicant Gary Pulham has now appealed to the Planning Inspectorate in an attempt to have the decision overturned.
