An orthopaedic service is closing.
The integrated orthopaedic service at St Peter’s Hospital, Maldon, offered tests and treatments for patients with complex musculoskeletal conditions, including X-rays, MRIs, ultrasound and blood tests and physiotherapy.
An NHS spokesman said: “Although the integrated orthopaedic service (IOS) at St Peter’s Hospital has been decommissioned, it’s important to stress that this will in no way disadvantage patients."
GPs will have more flexibility to advise patients as to whether self-care, physiotherapy, or referral to other specialist service providers, would be their best option.
