A mum has spent a year desperately looking for an adapted home so that her disabled son can eventually return home permanently.
Sam Richards, 18, is unable to return home to Maldon for longer than a day because there is no ground floor bedroom or bathroom.
His mum Teresa Mecoy made the two hour round trip to his respite centre in Clacton to bring him back for Christmas Day - his first at home since a playground accident in September 2012.
She has spent the last 12 months looking for a rented property that is, or can be, adapted.
Ms Mecoy, of Mundon Road, is also trying to raise £14,000 for an eye gaze communication aid so that Sam can communicate.
She is planning to run the Maldon Mud Race and organise fundraisers such as pamper evenings.
