Three businessmen have been banned from becoming company directors after they failed to pay their company’s taxes.
Steven Burrow, 54, and Yehuda Shalam, 79, have been banned from holding directorships for six years while Kevin Lammin, 50, was banned for two years.
It follows an Insolvency Service Investigation into their business, Shalam UK Ltd, which had its registered office at Trafalgar House, Fullbridge, Maldon, and traded from Basildon.
The investigation showed the trio failed to ensure that Shalam paid all its taxes during the three and a half years it traded, despite the company records showing that tax of more than £1.3million was due.
The company only paid just £10,300 to HMRC.
The disqualifications prevent them from acting as company directors without permission from the courts, for the duration of the ban.
Susan MacLeod, chief investigator at the Insolvency Service, said: “These actions not only deprived the taxpayer of money, but gave the company an unfair trading advantage over its competitors."
