Campaigners had fought to save free parking
Campaigners have won their fight to save free parking in Maldon.
Two committees on Maldon District Council had recommended the parking policy be changed to include charges on evenings and Sundays and at the council’s offices, where drivers can park for free on Saturday.
But the full council unanimously decided against it.
In just two weeks, 2,800 people signed a petition launched by businesses and community groups under the banner Stop Taxing Our Parking.
