Cyclists will welcome in the new year with a bike ride through the district’s lovely landscapes.
Southminster and Burnham Cycle Path Association are once again holding The Icycle Ride on New Year’s Day.
Starting at the George V playing field in Southminster, there is either a ten mile or a 12 mile route to choose from via Asheldham or Tillingham.
Children under 14 must have an adult accompanying them.
There will be prizes for the best fancy hat.
Registration starts from 10.45am at St Leonard’s Church, Southminster, and the ride starts at 11.30am.
There will be parking, toilets and refreshments at the church.
Entry is free and donations are requested to the association’s campaign for a cycle path between Burnham and Southminster.
This year’s event raised about £400 and had more than 150 riders.
Now in its eighth year, the ride is the main fundraiser to gather enough money for evaluation work to be carried out into possible routes.
