A young boxer was given tips from top boxers in a TV show.

Tollesbury boy Louis Curtis, 11, featured in CBBC’s Turbo Boost, a programme that challenges talented youngsters from across the country to develop their skills in their chosen hobby.

The Plume School pupil, who trains at Colchester Amatuer Boxing Club, was mentored by bronze Olympic medallist Anthony Ogogo.

He also had a fencing lesson with Olympic fencer James Beavers, spoke to three times world champion Carl Froch on the phone just before going to school and received a video message from former heavyweight champion David Haye.

I know you cant ban boxing because all that would happen is it would go underground but I remain profoundly unimpressed with any encouragement of it due to the brain damage which has to happen due to the nature of the activity.
