A deteriorating nineteenth century barn could be transformed into a wedding venue.
Councillors will decide on the planning application to restore the Grade II listed barn, at High House Farm, in Old Heath Road, Althorne, into a place for weddings and receptions on Monday.
It has been recommended that they approve the application, which also includes the building of a bridal suite and a gazebo and the creation of 32 parking spaces.
If the application gets the go ahead, it is hoped that the venture will provide local employment.
Residents in Old Heath Road have objected to the application, with concerns that “change to commercial use would affect tranquillity of the area” and that there would be “additional traffic risks, especially from coaches along narrow lanes”.
