A mum is calling on vandals to stop their mindless destruction after her car window was shot with an air gun pellet, it is believed.

Tesco worker Dawn Lyon, of Granger Avenue, Maldon, has been left living in a “nightmare” after her quarterlight window was smashed in a two-mile vandalism spree.

The 43-year-old, who had only bought her £12,000 Ford Fiesta three weeks earlier, was shocked to discover a small round hole in her window .

She is now applying for Maldon District Council to put in a drive at her house after vandals ripped off her car wingmirror in August.

The mum-of-one said: “The window was definitely shot out, my window was the only one that was left intact, you could see the bullet hole.

“All the glass around it was smashed.

“Now my youngest, who is 11, keeps thinking there is someone outside every time she hears a noise. It’s been a nightmare.”

Another mum Claire Stevens has a side window of her Ford S-Max in Abbotsmead, Heybridge, smashed on the same night.
