Maldon: 48 houses in Heybridge industrial estate 'will cause unbelievable disruption'
Heybridge residents are condemning plans for 48 houses on an industrial estate over concerns that it will cause “unbelievable disruption”.
Developer Bellway Homes hope to deliver the family houses, of which 14 will be affordable, in Hall Road on the vacant Bridge House site, a former home to Bridge Communications.
Some 34 homes will offer two to three bedrooms.
The building was the hub of controversy in 2010 when police were astonished to discover 8,000 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £2 million inside.
It was described as one of the biggest and most sophisticated cannabis factories in the country.
Hall Road resident Martin Page, 66, retired, said: “It just seems too many houses, it’s a hell of a lot."
