Maldon: Company fined £17,500 following worker's injuries

A kebab factory has been ordered to pay £25,000 after worker suffered horrific injuries when his hand was caught in a meat skinning machine.
Ethem Torungolu lost the knuckles on his right hand, suffered damage to ligaments and tendons and has been left with limited use of his hand.
He had been cleaning a de-rinding machine at the Kismet Kebabs factory in Maldon Road, Latchingdon when the accident happened on February 9 last year.
Kismet Kebabs and company director Maurice Green admitted failing to prevent access to dangerous parts of machinery and failing to ensure Mr Torungolu received adequate training in the safe use and cleaning of the de-rinding machine.
The firm was fined £17,500 plus £7,500 costs at Chelmsford Crown Court.
