Burnham: Having a Royal Gala at village apple day

Apples were at the core of a community orchard’s annual fun day.
The Friends of Southminster Community Open Spaces (FOSCOS) have organised the Apple Day at the village’s Orchard Meadows since 2007.
Villagers had a go at competitions for the longest apple peel and best apple pie, went on a treasure hunt and browsed stalls.
Burnham and District Dog Club gave an obedience demonstration and village dogs had their day at a fun dog show, which attracted more than 100 entries in six classes.
Burnham Rugby Club held two interclub matches of tag rugby for the juniors and a ladies touch rugby match between Burnham and South Woodham Ferrers Ladies Teams saw SWF Ladies win by 3 to 2.
