Maldon district: County to receive superfast broadband - but district is among last to see change
High speed broadband will be rolled out across the county - but the Maldon district is one of the last places to see boosted connections.
BT will deliver superfast broadband to 65,000 homes and 30 business parks across Essex by summer 2016.
All homes and businesses not already provided with fibre broadband will have access to a minimum broadband speed of two megabits (Mbps).
The £13million project – funded by the council and the Government – will see exchanges and cabinets upgraded with fibre optic cables.
The Maldon district was recognised as needing superfast broadband, with only 36.2 per cent of premises experiencing fast speeds - the lowest amount for a district across the whole county.
