Youth groups in Burnham are in danger of closing if residents do not lend a hand.
People living in Burnham or across the Dengie are being urged to commandeer leading the scouting groups in the town or risk losing the facility altogether.
Currently more than 30 children aged between six and 10 attend the beavers, cubs and scouts groups each week at the hut in Millfields, but organisers say that more and more are leaving because of low leader numbers.
Sandra Waller, who leads the scout group, said: “If there isn’t the right support, it could be a threat.
“We can’t carry on with such low numbers of leaders forever."
