Maldon: Plume School pupils welcome home virtual babies
The world of sleepless nights and midnight feeds came to Maldon pupils as they welcomed home a beautiful baby for a weekend.
Some 33 Year 11 GCSE child development pupils were given the daunting task of caring for a “virtual” child for two days and two nights.
The babies, which are £500 each, aim to thoroughly test the pupils by being as lifelike as possible - they cry at regular intervals and need feeding, changing, burping and rocking.
Nappies even have to be changed.
Teacher Jane Brunt said: “It’s a challenge and a very valuable experience."
