Maldon: Football tribute to sport-mad teen
2:00pm Sunday 22nd September 2013 in Local News
Footballers played a memorial match in tribute to a teenager who lost his battle with cystic fibrosis.
Kristian Long, of Gate Street Mews, Maldon, died in June.
The sport-mad 19-year-old and his older brother Charlie had both played football at Plume School, where their two teams took to the pitch last Sunday for the match.
A crowd of 200 spectators watched as Kristian’s team beat Charlie’s side 4-0.
The match raised £1,000, which the family will donate to St Mary’s Church in Maldon and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Kristian’s parents, Bryan and Gill, also opened the new home dugout with a memorial plaque for their son.
