Burnham: Police call for calm to avoid spoiling carnival festivities
9:00am Wednesday 18th September 2013 in Local News
Police and carnival organisers are calling for visitors not to spoil the carnival spirit this year with under-age drinking.
It follows incidents last year that coincided with Burnham Carnival day but were after the event had finished.
Inspector Chris Kilgallen, of Maldon police, said the sheer number of people who visit the town for the spectacle meant there can be a large number of youngsters congregating in the town, which can cause issues.
She said: “There will be increased number of police on duty that evening into the night and we would ask everybody attending to behave responsibly and not to spoil the evening for the rest of the community.”
