Maldon: Couple living in caravan after home floods
5:00pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in Local News
A man and his disabled wife are living in a caravan in their garden after their 300-year-old cottage was ruined by floods.
Barry and Trudy Harwood were among the victims of torrential rain on the August bank holiday weekend.
They have cancelled a planned holiday to Sussex this week to deal with the aftermath at their house in Fambridge Road, Purleigh.
Mr Harwood said: “My wife has been there 30 years, I have been there 25 years, but we have not had flooding like that before whatsoever.
“It is awful, totally gutted basically. “I think we shed as many tears as the rain.”
