Maldon district: 'We need more ambulances'
Residents across the Maldon district have called for better ambulance provision amid response time concerns.
Suggestions for an ambulance to be stationed in Burnham or the Dengie have been made so that casualties can be accessed quicker.
Last Monday, a seven-year-old boy waited 45 minutes for an ambulance after a nasty fall at the skate park in Millfield, Burnham - the response time should have been half-an-hour.
One Burnham teenager even believed it was more worthwhile driving to hospital rather than waiting for an ambulance.
Charlii Maker, 19, of Station Road, said: “An ambulance based in Burnham would be great, the Dengie has many care homes, community carers and families who need a service they can rely on in an emergency and at the moment the service is diabolical.
“People would rather get themselves to hospital then wait for an ambulance to take them.”
