Burnham: Train cancellations cause carnival fears
Train cancellations could threaten the success of Burnham Carnival, it is feared.
Concerns have been raised that the closure of railway lines between Wickford and Southminster all weekend of the carnival may mean people from across the county cannot attend, causing profits to slump.
Instead replacement buses running from between Billericay and Southminster, calling at South Woodham Ferrers, North Fambridge, Althorne and Burnham, will be running hourly.
Burnham Carnival committee member Caroline Sarychkin urged Network Rail to reconsider their engineering work across the weekend for fears that hundreds of people would be put off coming to the carnival.
