A niece whose airman uncle was shot down on his first mission to Germany is looking for relatives of a man who died with him.
Louise Dexter has been researching what happened to the seven-man crew of the Lancaster bomber, ND474, for more than a year.
It was shot out of the sky while on a daring raid to Stuttgart and crashed near the village of Bolstern in Bad Saulgau, Germany, on March 15, 1944.
Her uncle, flight engineer Ronald Hoole, 20, and his crew-mates including William Hardy, who had connections to Maldon.
She has tracked down relatives of the other three crew members and is keen to find William’s descendants as a memorial will be unveiled in their memory next year.
