Burnham: On the look out for danger with the Essex Police marine unit
Essex's marine police must have one of the toughest jobs going.
With just eight officers based at the unit in Station Road, Burnham, and around 360 miles of the county’s coastline to patrol, their work must seem never-ending.
I had first-hand experience of such hard work and dedication to cutting down marine crime when I went aboard the police’s rigid inflatable boat as part of a joint operation with Maldon District Council.
Despite my hopes that the weather would be glorious for my stint on the water, it was sadly not the case as rain continuously poured down last Saturday - the day the Maldon district experienced horrendous flooding.
See this week's MBS for a feature on reporter Emma Robinson's trip with the unit.
