Festival-goer's death still unexplained
8:39am Wednesday 4th September 2013 in Local News
The death of a festival-goer continues to be treated as unexplained following the initial results of a post-mortem examination.
The 33-year-old man from the Chelmsford area had attended Brownstock in Stow Maries and was taken ill after ingesting a substance, thought to be 5-EAPB.
He died at Basildon University Hospital on Sunday.
Police said a post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday and the provisional result was inconclusive.
Further toxicology tests have been requested and these results are due in late November.
The man's death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner, who will make a decision on whether or not an inquest will be heard.
Police said the dead man had been in the company of his girlfriend.
She was last known to be in a stable condition at Basildon University Hospital after also ingesting the same drug as her partner.
