Burnham: Music festival hit by tragedy
9:00am Wednesday 4th September 2013 in Local News
Brownstock was hit with tragedy after two festival-goers died and another was beaten by ten men.
The organisers of the three-day event in Stow Maries said they were devastated after a man in his 30s died after taking a drug bought on the internet.
In separate incidents, a Surrey man aged in his 30s died after he was hit by at least four cars while walking towards Fambridge and a 30-year-old man from Chelmsford needed stitches after being attacked by ten men.
Police are investigating all three incidents.
Organisers said they were shocked and saddened by the two deaths and will be working with councils, police, the fire brigade and ambulance service to see what changes might be made to improve security next year.
This year's festival had drawn the biggest crowd in its nine year history and included acts such as Professor Green, Mark Ronson and The Fratellis.
