Maldon: Surgeries explain the cost of cleanliness
5:00pm Saturday 7th September 2013 in Local News
Doctors have to balance patient demands for magazines and children’s toys in waiting rooms against strict infection controls, it is claimed.
Two of Maldon’s surgeries have given an insight into the rules governing cleanliness, after the Care Quality Commission (CQC) told another surgery in mid Essex to remove its non-wipeable cuddly toys and books.
Blackwater Medical Centre and Longfield Medical Centre, both in Princes Road, Maldon, said some health and safety requirements were common sense.
They also said the time and cost of cleaning means surgeries will remove items such as toys and magazines.
