Maldon: Residents unhappy with seawall repairs
11:00am Thursday 5th September 2013 in Local News
Repairs to a seawall path will be tweaked following complaints.
The Environment Agency is replacing about 400m of concrete slabs on Maylandsea’s seawall, which will cost about £50,000.
But villagers were unhappy with the shingle type coating put in its place.
Mayland Parish Council chairman Jane Evans said although the agency has said the material is suitable, residents have complained it is not suited for wheelchairs and bikes.
She said it is now making changes following a complaint from councillors.
The Environment Agency said the road plaining is put in as a loose surface but will blend over time to harden and grass seed will be plants to help increase the surface’s stability.
