Residents are worried a solar farm could be a blot on farmland views.

Lightsource Renewable Energy Ltd has applied for permission to install 41,500 panels on land south of Jackletts Farm in Slough Road, Danbury.

Garth Curtis, of Hackmans Lane, Cock Clarks, is among 43 residents near the site to write to Chelmsford City Council about the plans.

He said: “It is certainly a blight, if that is the word use on our beautiful landscape around here.”

But Christine Halls, of farming company Dalziel at Jackletts Farm, said: “Hopefully it will be nice and landscaped and we are hoping to graze sheep around it so it will be used for agriculture and grazing.”
