Residents are worried a solar farm could be a blot on farmland views.

Lightsource Renewable Energy Ltd has applied for permission to install 41,500 panels on land south of Jackletts Farm in Slough Road, Danbury.

Garth Curtis, of Hackmans Lane, Cock Clarks, is among 43 residents near the site to write to Chelmsford City Council about the plans.

He said: “It is certainly a blight, if that is the word use on our beautiful landscape around here.”

But Christine Halls, of farming company Dalziel at Jackletts Farm, said: “Hopefully it will be nice and landscaped and we are hoping to graze sheep around it so it will be used for agriculture and grazing.”

Pathetic objection to the solar farm. We need power; it gives it to us without it being 'nuclear' ugly. As well, the alterations to the view will be minimal - I assume a hedge can be planted. And, of course, in time it could be dismantled.

I assume the people objecting to the farm use power ; wonder where it comes from? Somewhere else - and that's all this - a NIMBY hypocritical complaint with no logic behind it..
