Maldon: Ship wrecks spoiling creek, says council
3:00pm Wednesday 28th August 2013 in Local News
Dilapidated wrecked boats are spoiling a waterway, according to council officers.
Maldon District Council said it has received complaints from residents near Heybridge Creek about the condition of some of the vessels and its general “run down” appearance.
Council officers said the options were to regulate the area and allow boats to be moored for a fee or clear Heybridge Creek of all unauthorised vessels.
The estimated cost of removing each wreck is between £3,500 and £5,000 - totalling more than £75,000 overall.
