Burnham: Vandals wreck Southminster community orchard
Youths who trashed a village apple orchard have been branded “mindless vandals”.
Groups of teenagers have been spotted picking apples and ripping down tree branches at Orchard Meadows in Southfield Way, Southminster.
The 3.2 hectare community open space, which features the highest known concentration of Maldon Wonder apple trees in the region, was vandalised last Tuesday **13TH** and again on Monday.
Paula Neall, 63, who is working to restore the orchard as a member of the Friends of Southminster Community Open Spaces (FOSCOS), said: “There were a whole load of kids about 15 or 16-years-old picking apples."
