Burnham: Good causes 'could lose out' in carnival programme confusion
5:00pm Friday 16th August 2013 in Local News
Good causes could lose out on money because advertisers have unwittingly placed adverts in an unofficial carnival programme.
The official Burnham Carnival programme is produced by the Burnham and Dengie Hundred Review and advertising fees are passed onto local charities and causes.
Editor Keith Williams said last year’s raised £2,500 and it was not the first time advertisers had been approached by an unofficial publication.
He said: “It happened a couple of years back. We have rung a couple of people this year and said ‘are you going to support the carnival this year?’ and they said ‘we already have’.”
* BURNHAM residents can get a carnival T-shirt and raise money for good causes.
They cost £12 for adults and £10 for children are available from Keith Williams Photography in Belvedere Road and from other retailers in the town.
Proceeds will go to Burnham Carnival to be distributed to local charities and good causes.
