Rain, fire and ice all lead to school compensation claims
SLIPS, trips and assaults are among incidents subject to compensation claims made by staff and pupils at north Essex schools.
Information released by Essex County council shows one pupil claimed for an injury sustained their clothing caught fire during a science lesson.
Claims made by staff include one employee at an infant school assaulted by a pupil which cost £500 and another at a different infant school who slipped on wet grass while demonstrating an aerobics move.
Other claims made by pupils in the county’s schools include an assault on a child by another pupil at a Colchester primary school and a £16,800 pay-out - the highest in Essex - when a pupil slipped on water on stairs at a Tendring secondary school.
