Lottery funding for WWI heritage project
A PROJECT marking the 100th anniversary of the First World War in Essex has been awarded £65,600 from the lottery.
Essex County Council’s Now the Last Poppy has Fallen initiative will focus on the lives of families, individuals and communities during the conflict.
It is part of a nation-wide scheme to commemorate the centenary of the war, and Essex has received the cash boost from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
County Hall has also pledged £10,000 of funding to the project.
Launching in September the project will run until to December 2015 and will include a touring exhibition looking at life on the home front, museum education sessions for secondary school pupils, performances linked to real-life stories and a partnership between museums, schools, artists and volunteers.
