Burnham: South Woodham Ferrers man defies leukaemia for cycle challenge
5:00pm Saturday 10th August 2013 in Local News
A cancer patient is saddling up for a charity cycle ride.
David Rogers, of South Woodham Ferrers, is taking part in the 52-mile London Bikeathon to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
David, 42, had decided to do the ride for a friend, Richard Bass, also from the town, who had been diagnosed with leukaemia.
But in a twist of irony, he himself was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) only three weeks ago.
The father-of-three, of Drywoods, is one of 35 people cycling the 52-mile route as part of the team We Hate Hills and Wind, a social cycling club based in South Woodham Ferrers.
