Maldon: 'We just want to get married in village church', say gay dads
Britain's first gay surrogate parents have launched a legal challenge against the Church of England’s ban on same-sex marriage.
Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 44, who runs Maldon-based British Surrogacy Centre with partner Tony, hoped to get married in his local church in Danbury but has been barred from doing so.
Practising Christian Mr Drewitt-Barlow said the new law did not offer what he had been campaigning for for years and began the first legal challenge last Thursday.
