Forty Burnham youngsters took a “thought-provoking” trip back in time earlier this month.
Ormiston Rivers Academy’s history department took pupils from Years 9 and 10 to visit the Ypres Salient in Belgium, where some of the fiercest fighting during World War I took place.
The group first stopped off at a reconstructed German trench system at Bayernwald where pupils were able to walk through the trenches, take refuge in the concrete bunkers and go 'over the top'.
