Rettendon: Crash Update

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a road crash on the A130 near Rettendon.
The man is believed to be in his 60s and from the Braintree area.
Police were called at about 11.15am today following reports of a collision involving two lorries in a layby off the southbound carriageway.
The driver of one of the vehicles was confirmed dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, which was stationary at the time, is believed to be from the Colchester area. He was treated for minor injuries.
Both lanes of the southbound carriageway remain open although the inside lane will be closed while the vehicles are recovered.
Officers from the Essex Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit are at the scene and are carrying out initial enquiries.
Police are asking for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to them to call the investigating officer, Pc Dave Gorbutt of the Essex Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, on 101 or send an email to collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk.
