Maldon: Youngsters 'as good as BRIT artists' says MP

Maldon's MP has praised the district’s talent, comparing residents to the stars at the BRIT awards.

John Whittingdale rubbed shoulders with some of the country’s most famous singers at the award ceremony on Wednesday, even dancing at Universal Music’s after-party with fellow MPs.

But the Culture Media and Sport Select Committee chairman was keen to lay praise at the district’s doorstep, after the Scouts Gang Show at Maldon Town Hall on Friday and Saturday.

He said: “There’s as much talent on display in Maldon as there is at the BRITs. The Gang Show is always a superb show.”

He added that the ceremony was a fantastic celebration and Muse’s performance of Supremacy was his favourite part.

“In terms of performance I thought MUSE were fantastic”, he said.
