A Maldon girl has a shot at becoming an international beauty queen.

Plume School pupil, Sarah Hope, will have to fight off competition from hundreds of other UK girls to win her place at the Face of the Globe grand final, which is being held at Disneyland Paris.

To claim her place in the final, the 15-year-old must first get through a regional heat in Azur and if she impresses across a number of categories then she will book her place in Paris.

“To win the regional heat I will have to raise significant amounts of money for the Rainbow Child Foundation, go through an informal interview with the judges before being put under the spotlight on stage; this will give the judges a chance to get to know me a bit better.

On stage I have to get the highest amounts for posture, elegance, stage presence, confidence, stage interview, informal interview and overall appearance,” said the former Maldon Carnival queen.

This is the first time Sarah, of Cherry Garden Road, has entered a beauty pageant and she is aiming to raise more than £2,000.

She said: “Every penny counts. I want to help change young children's lives who are not as fortunate as others.”
