A coffee morning has raised hundreds of pounds for a family who lost everything in a Bradwell house fire.

Judith Robinson, who works at Dengie Crops, husband Matthew and their children Caitlun, 15, and Callum, eight, were left homeless after a blaze tore through their bungalow in East End Road.

More than 40 generous villagers and neighbours clubbed together on Friday for a fundraising coffee morning at Bradwell Village Hall, raising around £400.

The money will be donated to the family to buy food and essential living items.

Organiser Michelle Barrell, 36, of Kingswood Court, Bradwell, said the event was a real success.

The communications officer for the Metropolitan Police, who didn’t know the family before the fire, said: “It was excellent, there was such a community spirit.
