Villagers are looking forward to seeing the fruits of their labour after planting 60 apple and pear trees.
Gardening enthusiasts have been planting up a community orchard off Southfield Way, Southminster, which includes 33 Essex varieties of apple and three Essex varieties of pear.
Paula Neall of The Friends of Southminster Community Open Spaces (FOSCOS) said: “This is the third year of planting.
“There was fruit on the first batch this year and in five years’ time it should look really good.
“We just hope we don’t get any vandalism.”
