Maldon parents have defended their actions when it comes to taking children out of school during term time.

Despite facing the possibility of a fine, parents say they will continue to pull their children out of class for cheaper holidays.

The statistic fits in with national research by Direct Line Travel Insurance, which found 55% of parents nationwide would be willing to take their children out of school during term time in order to bag themselves a bargain break.

Maldon single parent Kazz Walters, 26, admitted that she would be breaking the rules in June.

“My daughter is in reception so it's not like she is doing exams and it will be the first holiday we will be going on,” said the Poulton Close resident.
